Review

The New Bacon-ings burger is your classic bacon cheeseburger. Between the bun sits an all-beef patty (we go for the 80% meat/20% fat variety) topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion … and bacon!

You always want to season the patties with salt and pepper — it helps retain the juices. As someone who is more a sausage and rib griller than hamburgers, I always tend to leave burgers on too long — but really 5 minutes per side is all you need. Looking forward to getting better at burgers during this experiment!

Freshly cooked bacon makes all the difference. With an 11-month old, we usually cook all our bacon at once and then just microwave it as needed. Works for us, but that hot and greasy bacon on top of the cool toppings is the tops. We also used a Kaiser bun, which was a little too much bread for this kind of burger. A double New Bacon-ings would have worked better with it.

Overall, New Bacon-ings is your foundational burger: not too fancy, but hits all the right spots.
